Studded Western Ankle Boot: A Cowboy Boot With Rock and Roll in It
The Studded Western Ankle Boot is a fall boot designed by David Assil for Madison Maison, the Beverly Hills specialty store: an ankle boot in soft Italian leather with metal stud trim along the seams and the collar, a full side zipper and a cuban block heel, handmade in Italy by a third generation family factory. It comes in brown and in black, $895, in sizes 36 to 41, in store at 9630 Brighton Way and online.
Did this in two colors. I just love the way it came out. I love the modeled look on the, they call it teak. It just came out beautifully. And I love the studding on it. And the sole is fantastic.
Look how flexible this boot is. And it is lightweight. You look at it and you think it is heavy. But it is super lightweight. Very flexible. Leather is like butter. Looks great on.
Hip Cowboy
And when I do, let us call it a cowboy boot or whatever, I try to do it so it has got a little bit of rock and roll in it. I do not want it to be like country western cowboy. I want it to be hip cowboy.
So a woman can wear it like a cowboy boot. She can wear it like a rock and roll boot. This could be worn with leather pants, let us say. Or it can be worn for a skirt to give it a cowboy effect.
Made to Be Worn a Lot
So I always try to maximize the usage and the wearability for the client. Because it just makes it that much more special. If you can pull something out of your closet and wear it with a lot of things. Or put it in your luggage and travel with it. Know you are going to pull it out three, four times on a two week trip, three week trip and wear it. Then you are super happy.
So these came out great. Love them.

Twenty Years, Same Factory
Handmade in Italy. Again, another third generation. This one is a third generation factory. And I just love working with them. I have been working with them for 20 years. And the relationship is rock solid.
And I just love working with Italians that are artisan, small factory, family owned, multi generation. Because they get it. They are not just there for the bottom line. They have actually pride in what they make.
Proud of It First
Unlike a lot of the designers now. Everything is about bottom line. That is why you are not getting quality and you are getting a super high price. Whereas these, they make something and they want to be proud of it first. It is not about the money.
I know a lot of people do not understand that. Of course, finance is incredibly important. But they put their heart and their love into it. And that is why I love working with them.

What colors does the Studded Western Ankle Boot come in?
Two. Brown, the leather David calls teak, and black. Both carry the metal stud trim along the seams and the collar, the full side zipper and the cuban block heel.
Is it heavy?
It looks heavy. It is not. In David's words, you look at it and you think it is heavy, but it is super lightweight, very flexible, and the leather is like butter.
How do you wear it?
Like a cowboy boot or like a rock and roll boot. With leather pants, or with a skirt for the cowboy effect. It was designed to be pulled out of the closet and worn with a lot of things, and to travel.
Where is it made?
Handmade in Italy by a third generation family factory David has worked with for twenty years. A small factory, family owned, multi generation, that wants to be proud of what it makes first.
What is the heel and the shaft?
A 2.5 inch stacked wood cuban block heel on a leather blend sole, with a 6 inch shaft. It runs one size large, so take a half size down. See the size guide.
